Waiters and waitresses representing Italian restaurants in Queensland will gather in The Queen Street Mall to compete in a relay race with a difference—the runners have to carry glasses of wine on a tray without spilling a drop.The waiters’ race, or Corsa dei Camerieri in Italian, is one event of the Tastes of Italy to be held over the weekend. It will feature waiters and waitresses mostly from Italian restaurants.

Official Festa della Repubblica event
The consulate of Italy hosts it official Italian National Day event. Festa della Repubblica (literally Festivity of the Republic) is celebrated in Italy on the second of June each year. The day commemorates the institutional referendum held by universal suffrage in 1946, in which the Italian people were called to the polls to decide on the form of government, following the Second World War.
