16 year old Alex Raineri currently studies piano performance with Leah Horwitz, OAM at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and also studies composition with Gerard Brophy. In November 2008, Alex was awarded a distinction in his ‘Trinity College of London' LTCL exam and the ‘Top of the State’ award. Also in 2008, Alex performed Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue' with the Queensland Orchestra in the keyboard finals of the 'ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards'. Alex has appeared on ABC television’s ‘The 7.30 Report’, ABC's ‘Sunday Arts’, Channel 9’s ‘Inside Queensland’, Channel 10’s ‘9AM show’ and the Channel 10, ‘5:00pm news’. Alex has recorded a CD, ‘When Poets Dreamed’ and is currently compiling a new CD of his own compositions, entitled 'Shadow Sketches' which is due to be finished by late 2009.
Alex’s performance experience includes performances in Taiwan, California, Germany and in Australia, Alex has performed for ABC National Radio, 2MBS Radio Station, the Queensland Orchestra, 2008 Italian Week, Theme and Variations, the Kelvin Grove Wind Orchestra, the Brisbane Symphonic Band, 3MBS Radio Station, the St Lucia Orchestra, the Sinfonia of St Andrews, Italian Week, the Cancer Council of Queensland, St Michaels Church, St Mary's Church, 'Classic Clarinets', the Queensland Philanthropic Orchestra, the Bach Society Choir, the Norton St Fiesta and many more.
