DOMINIQUE FEGAN began vocal studies at a very early age, having been born the youngest child of a singing teacher. In 1987 she completed a two year drama course with the Royal Queensland Youth Theatre (part of the now QTC). She then took up voice studies with Mark Jowett before moving to the UK. Whilst there, she continued private studies with renowned Welsh tenor Maldwyn Davies. Since returning to Australia Dominique has studied with Ghillian Sullivan and Joseph Ward.
Dominique has performed with numerous operatic societies in south east Queensland and in the UK. Principal roles include Casilda in The Gondoliers, Angela in Patience, Anna in The Merry Widow, Josephine in HMS Pinafore, The Plaintiff in Trial by Jury, Phyllis in Iolanthe, Guenevere in Camelot, Maisie in The Boyfriend, and Hugette in The Vagabond King.
Dominique joined Opera Queensland as a chorus soprano in 1995 and has appeared in numerous concerts and productions including Parsifal, Turandot, La Boheme, Die Tote Stadt, Faust, La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, Lucia Di Lammermoor, Nabucco and was a soloist in Coro Magnifico!
Dominique’s principal operatic performances both here and in the UK include the role of the Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia (Operez Productions), the title role in Tosca and Violetta in La Traviata (both for Park Opera) and Musetta in La Boheme (Candlelight Opera). In 2007 she understudied the role of Gertrude in Hansel & Gretel (Opera Queensland). In 2008, as part of Opera Queensland’s Education Program, Dominique toured Qld and NSW in the combined roles of Mother, Sandman and Witch in Hansel & Gretel.
Dominique’s concert performances include Mozart’s C Minor Mass (Eton College Royal Free Singers) and a performance with world renowned virtuoso trumpeter Crispian Steele-Perkins.
Dominique is currently in rehearsal for La Traviata with Opera Queensland and is looking forward to performing in Fidelio with OQ later in the year.
